Kathryn 4 years ago Halloween was originally a day of fast and abstinence in the Catholic Church in preparation of All Saints Day. It was All Hallowed’s Eve. Like many holidays the dates were picked to coincide with cultural holidays they were trying to supplant. Hence the same time frame as Celtic Samhain.
